Is demand control not a "universal energy-saving method"?

More facilities are introducing "demand control (peak cut)" as a measure to reduce basic electricity charges. However, demand control is fundamentally a "method to suppress power peaks" and should be considered separately from energy-saving measures that enhance the inherent efficiency of air conditioning units. In this article, we will explain the mechanism of demand control in air conditioning systems and the disadvantages to be aware of in practical operations. 1. Mechanism and Process of Air Conditioning Demand Control Demand control in air conditioning systems suppresses peak power through the following processes: 1. Detecting the rise in power peaks. 2. Activating demand control. 3. Temporarily forcing a reduction in cooling capacity. By suppressing the peak power value (kW) through this control, it is very effective as a measure against basic charges.
